More on "LOST" files.
Last issue I was expounding some theories on how a Windows file system is constructed to set some groundwork for some more advanced stuff we'll be looking at in later editions.
In essence we are on the track of finding 'LOST' files (documents, pictures etc). Why not use the Windows 'Search' facility? It's relatively simple to use and you can walk away while it does its job!
First, open the Search dialogue box by clicking on 'Start' and on 'Search' which appears generally second from the bottom of the right-hand column. (I'm assuming the use of Windows XP in this instance. For other versions of the Windows operating system you might have to look around a bit.) Hover your mouse pointer over  button 1 to the right to see what I'm talking about - after all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
The image displayed when you hover over button 2 is the 'Dialogue Box' where you enter what type of file you are looking for, be it a document,  picture, video, music file etc. The selection I mostly use is the 'All Files and Folders' link. Button 3 will display the Dialogue box where you enter any detail you can remember of the file you are looking for. The example shown shows a search for a picture file (JPEG0 with 'baby' somewhere in its name and button 4 will display a 'Search Results' window. The results can then be displayed and sorted using the standard Windows methodology of selecting the View (Thumbnails, Icons, List, Details etc) and if Details is selected clicking on the column headings can sort the results by  Name , Creation Date, Size etc.
Next month - Advanced Search Options.
Jae's Soapbox
No Longer

No longer are you afraid of your forgetfulness
To be exposed no longer frays your nerves.
No longer are your movements restricted and slow
To move without help to walk without a shuffle.
No longer is there a need to search for words
Toretain thoughts of just moments ago.
No longer is your mind broken and unable to mend
For now you understand all and forget nothing.
No longer are you at the end of your life
For now you are young and vibrant again
No longer do you wait for the stair master
For he has come and taken you with him.
No longer do you miss those already gone
For you share their company once more.

In loving memory of
Violet Phyllis May Sayers
Rest In Peace Nanna Curly
You will be greatly missed by all the lives you blessed.
