Dearest JAR,
Well! This month is proving to be unbelievably prolific in all ways! Now that spring has been in full swing and soon to be summer, we are witnessing an explosion of nature's abundance. Perhaps it has something to do with the Year of the Boar. There is a profusion of flowers, pollywogs, birds, mosquitoes, and in the human world ~ invitations to many social events! Somehow it feels like someone turned the flame up under the pot of life and it is bubbling over! I feel that in twenty years if someone cut down a Tree and looked at its rings, the ring being made in this year will be the thickest. I am wondering if it is true worldwide. How is it looking at your end?
I thought I'd share some of what is happening lately with me. A couple of nights ago, some friends of ours hosted a sort-of-but-not-too-formal concert gathering at their home. There was Celtic fiddling music played by some of their friends, we brought an appetizer or wine to share, and part of the deal of attending was that you had to purchase one of their six CD's. We did so gladly -- it was a nice way to spend an evening, and a good way to support some friends in their work. Then yesterday I went on a hike as part of a group of ten women celebrating the upcoming marriage of our mutual friend, Rose. One woman even brought a four month old baby in a backpack. (A Vermont Ski Resort)It was breathtaking, and would have been more so if it had not been somewhat misty and grey. It was very much like a scene from the Sound of Music! Each of us wrote a special wish or poem for our friend, and had a delicious lunch and toasted with champagne. One woman works in an Essential Oil Shoppe, basically an apothecary, where she concocts different oil combinations. She blessed the four directions and presented Rose with a lovely Raven feather wrapped in rawhide and beads, as well as a gorgeous lavender bedspread that had been in her family for generations. Not all of us gave her gifts at that time -- we had so much to carry up with us. Besides my water and extra clothing, I brought two different types of cake, and chocolate covered strawberries, as well as a large glass bottle of lemonade along with ice packs to keep it cold. I was joking about the weight of the bag, which I said contained the rocks for the sauna I was planning to build at the top of the mountain! Since we were so sweaty from the steep climb, we began to get chilly when the wind began to kick in. We eventually retreated to the shelter that was just a short distance from where we sat. It was so warm and welcoming! After a short time, we saw that the fog was getting rather
